Paraguay will host, for the first time, a conference dedicated exclusively to Bitcoin (BTC), marking a major milestone for both the country and the regional ecosystem. The event, titled Accelerating Bitcoin, will take place on September 15 and 16 at the modern Paseo La Galería complex, located in Asunción, and will bring together local and international leaders in the sector.
This meeting will serve as a key platform to discuss the present and future of Bitcoin, in a context where Latin America is gaining prominence as a strategic region for financial decentralization and technological innovation. South America is emerging as the region with the greatest growth potential for Bitcoin adoption. The conference aims not only to highlight Paraguay’s growth in the industry, ranking among the top countries that convert clean energy into value through data centers dedicated to Bitcoin, but also to attract investment, promote the exchange of ideas, and consolidate regional alliances.
Paraguay's selection as the venue for Accelerating Bitcoin was no coincidence. The South American nation offers a unique combination of factors that make it especially attractive for Bitcoin-related projects. Its energy matrix, based on renewable sources, grants access to one of the cleanest and most affordable energy supplies in the world, thanks to the Itaipú hydroelectric dam.
In legal and tax terms, Paraguay is also positioned as a favorable destination for business. It offers legislation such as Law 60/90, which provides tax benefits to foreign investments, and the Maquila Regime, which allows export-oriented production with significant fiscal and customs incentives. Additionally, the country has a young, competitive workforce and a strategic location in the heart of the Southern Cone, facilitating regional connectivity and logistics.
A High-Level Event to Promote Knowledge and Business
Accelerating Bitcoin will take place in a 1,840-square-meter space, with capacity for up to 1,400 attendees. The venue includes modular conference rooms, direct access to a five-star hotel, executive suites, a shopping mall, and a business center, as well as gastronomic terraces featuring some of the country's most renowned restaurants, ideal for informal gatherings and networking.
Over the course of two days, there will be keynote speeches, themed panels, Q&A sessions, and interaction spaces with leaders from the global Bitcoin ecosystem. More than 20 international speakers will participate, covering topics such as mining, digital sovereignty, financial privacy, decentralization, education, and Bitcoin adoption in emerging markets.
Confirmed participants include Samson Mow (CEO of JAN3), Aydin Kilic (President of HIVE Digital Technologies), Ignacio Pauls (Co-founder of OCEAN), Seiiti Arata (educator at Tokyo Bitcoin Base), Avi Burra (Bitcoin writer and engineer), and Björn Schmidtke (founder of Penguin Group). All of them will share their experiences and strategic insights on Bitcoin's role in transforming modern economies.
Paraguay’s Emergence as a Regional Mining Power
Currently, Paraguay accounts for 3.5% of Bitcoin's global computing power, positioning it as one of the leading mining players in the Southern Hemisphere. This growth has been driven by its structural advantages—especially in energy—and by the country's openness to new technologies.
In this context, the Accelerating Bitcoin event seeks not only to strengthen Paraguay’s role in digital mining but also to establish the country as a financial and technological hub in Latin America.
